What is the Why Cloth Diapers Video Challenge?

The Why Cloth Diapers Video Contest is an interactive contest sponsored by online natural parenting store bynature.ca. The objective of the contest to get parents excited about using cloth diapers, show how using cloth diapers can be easy & fun, and to help encourage parents to consider cloth diapers as an alternative to use-and-toss diapers.

We are seeking parents currently using cloth diapers to record a motivational or instructional video based on your experiences. Parents may choose to highlight the various aspects of using cloth diapers such as helping the environment, the monetary savings, how easy using cloth diapers can be or the “fun” and fashionable aspect of cloth diapers for a chance to win a grand prize.

Grand Prize

The winner of the Why Cloth Diapers Video Challenge will win a $1000 gift certificate (Canadian funds) from online natural parenting store bynature.ca. This gift certificate can be redeemed at any of the bynature.ca shops, pregnancybynature.ca, babybynature.ca, kidsbynature.ca or playbynature.ca.

How to Participate:

The Why Cloth Diapers contest is open to Canadian and USA residents; bloggers and non-bloggers alike.

Step 1. Record a video between 1-3 minutes in length on your experience with cloth diapers that reflects one or more of the following themes:

Cloth Diapers as an Environmentally Friendly choice

Cloth Diapers as an Economical choice

Cloth Diapers as an Easy to Use choice

Cloth Diapers as a Fun and Fashionable choice

Please review our Rules and Regulations in regards to entries that may be considered inappropriate for this contest.

Step 2. Post your video to YouTube in response to the video introduction by bynature.ca’s CEO Tamara Champion (detailed instructions below).

Step 3. Tag your post with the phrases – Cloth Diapers, Why Cloth Diapers, Cloth Diapers vs. Disposables and Baby By Nature. If you are a blogger we hope that you will also consider sharing your entry on your blog.

Step 4. Email contest@parentingbynature.com the link to your post on YouTube. We will also need your full name, city and state/province to label your video and contact you should you be the winner (only first names will be posted online). If your video about cloth diapers qualifies for our contest, it will be posted to our gallery of cloth diaper videos within 1 business day.

Step 5. Share your video with your friends and family, encouraging them to view or comment on your entry. On Twitter, share with the hashtag #YClothDiapers. Find us @parentbynature where we’ll be following along. If you post your video to Facebook, let us know via our official Facebook fan (like?) page. We look forward to your message!

What Happens Next:

Baby By Nature will review all posts submitted for relevant content. If your video qualifies, it will be posted in our gallery of cloth diaper videos, 2010 Video Submissions. Your odds of winning are based on the number of submissions we receive. All entries will be judged by the bynature.ca staff and contributors based on originality, creativity and your motivational message.

The winner will be announced on WhyClothDiapers.com, Twitter and Facebook on Tuesday June 1st, 2010, as well as by email. Submissions may be edited for length and clarity.

Key Dates:

Enrollment: April 22, 2010 to May 28, 2010

Deadline to Enter: 12PM EST Friday, May 28, 2010 (Note: Due to a misprint in deadline dates we will accept video entries until Monday May 31, 12pm EST. The June 1st winner’s announcement will proceed as planned.)

Judging and Verification: May 29 to May 31, 2010

Winner to be announced: Tuesday June 1, 2010

How to send us your Why Cloth Diapers video:

1. Go to the YouTube homepage and login to your account.
2. If you do not have a YouTube account you will need to create an account in order to post a video response.
3. Once you are logged into your account, watch our video introduction to the Why Cloth Diapers contest.
4. Click on the “Post a Video Response” link at the bottom right of the video box.
5. You’ll have three options: “Record a Video”, “Choose a Video” and “Upload a Video”. Select Upload a Video.
6. Follow the instructions presented by YouTube to complete uploading your video. Your video should appear in the comments section underneath the video box.
7. Don’t forget to email us the link to your video!
